In this unique presentation, Flanagan and Waisserová will detail the variety of ways in which women resisted through literature and ecological activities, shedding new light on the ways in which individuals and communities can retain their humanity even as they resist and repel dictatorial regimes in their countries. They will highlight the originality and creativity of women’s writing, so critical for cultivating human coexistence and active solidarity today.
Hana Waisserová, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Practice of Czech Studies and an Affiliate of the Harris Centre for Judaic Studies at University Nebraska at Lincoln.
Brenda Flanagan, Ph.D. is Edward M. Armfield Professor of English and core faculty in Africana Studies at Davidson College in North Carolina.
