Annika writes:
My name is Annika, and I am currently attending Milwaukee Area Technical College, where I am playing volleyball and studying criminal justice with the goal of becoming a police officer. My Czech heritage has played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Every year, my family celebrates Christmas with a traditional Czech dinner, where we focus on the importance of our customs and the meaning behind each part of the meal. These traditions have taught me the value of family, culture, and staying connected to my roots. I am also a member of a Czech American organization called American Sokols. Through this group, I participate in activities that promote Czech heritage, including cooking traditional foods and volunteering at cultural events where we share our traditions with others. Being involved in this organization has strengthened my sense of community and pride in my background. Overall, my cultural experiences have helped shape my values of dedication, service, and community, qualities I plan to carry with me into my future career. Thank you for your generous gift and opportunity of this scholarship
