In March 2026, the Board of Directors added one new member. His name is Patrick Dewane and many you may know of him by way of his The Accidental Hero events.

Patrick writes:

My grandfather, Matt Konop, was 100% Bohemian and grew up on a farm in Wisconsin speaking Czech as his first language. And in the last week of World War Two, he was assigned to command the advance party to liberate SW Czechoslovakia, coincidentally sent to the same region all four of his grandparents had left for the US in the late 1860s. My interest in Czech culture springs directly from the 2007 discovery of his manuscript in which he had written about his extraordinary adventure at the end of the war, as well as details of growing up Czech in rural Wisconsin. I turned his writings into a one-man show that I tour across the country, and take each year in May to the Czech Republic on the anniversary of the Czechoslovakian liberation. The more I’ve learn about Czech culture, the more I’ve wanted to learn more. I am honored to have been voted onto your board of directors.
