THE PLAY’S THE THING: VÁCLAV HAVEL, ART AND POLITICS
Václav Havel was widely regarded as the preeminent Czech dramatist, who went on to become the first president of the Czech Republic. His plays, written during the Soviet occupation, shined a harsh light on life under the Soviet system. These feature-length and short films focus on Havel’’s long-standing relationships with Prague’s Theatre on the Balustrade and with visionary directors of the Czech New Wave. The Trylon is proud to partner with the National Film Archive Prague, Václav Havel Library, Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, and Czech and Slovak Sokol Minnesota to bring to the Twin Cities these feature-length and short films celebrating Havel’s work.
All films FREE to the public.
Mondays and Tuesdays in November at the Trylon Microcinema.
